When creating a character there are three important steps:


  1. See what options are available

  2. Copy the character sheet made for the chronicle and fill it in a thread of your own

  3. Ask the Storyteller for character approval


1. Available options:

Sect: To begin with everyone plays Camarilla vampires.
Status: One point in status to become a neonate is recommended, as a fledgeling would include more limited character options, and more limited gameplay. More points than one should be discussed with the Storyteller.
Age: You start out as a young vampire.
Generation: A generation lower than eight must be approved by the storyteller.

Available Camarilla clans:
Brujah: Strong and rowdy these are not to be underestimated, since they have their own domain, it is a good choice to play.
Gangrel: Most Gangrel are independent, but a few still stays within the sect. Perhaps the wild mountains is a lure for the wild heart.
Malkavian: Crazy people, with very little presence in Andorra. Or perhaps there are more? You never know how many are under the facade.
Nosferatu: Ugly as they are, Nosferatu players are recommended to have mask of a thousand faces for more options of gameplay. They have a good presence in Andorra, but no real power there, then again, that might be because they are disliked.
Toreador: Though not having a big presence in Andorra, the clan does have a seat on the Primogen council, which encourages more Toreadors to move in. Artist and visionaries are needed for a growing community after all.
Tremere: A small chantry needs more brains, like the Toreadors, they have a seat at the Primogen council, and the clan wouldn't mind strengthening their hold to uncover the secrets of the Pyrenees.
Ventrue: Being the clan of the local Prince, it is quite easy for Ventrue to gain access in Andorra, as long as they know their place of course, but that goes for everyone.

Future opportunities:
There will be possibilities to play more than one character in the future. New characters might be able to break some of the above stated requirements. Perhaps an Assamite has come to join the Camarilla? Or perhaps someone wants to try and play an elder. Or why not become part of one the Sabbat packs nearby? Before getting to play a secondary character, you need to play with your first in a manner where it shows you have the time and/or skill to pull off a second one. Of course, you may not use your characters to give yourself unreasonable advantages.

2. Create your Character

The version we are playing with is Vampire the Masquerade Revised Edition. Most choices in the character creation is done freely, however some are limited to a certain amount of points.

Attributes:
You have 7, 5 an 3 points respectively to place on Physical, Social and Mental attributes. You choose which category gets which amount of points, then you can divide the points however you wish within each category. Each attribute starts with 1 point, any point you place will increase that attribute with 1, to a maximum of 5. If you have 4 points you can also choose a specialization, and if you have 5 points you choose two. Exceptions: Appearance is 0 for Nosferatu and cannot be raised. Appearance does not have any specialisations.

Abilities:
Abilities consist of the categories Talents, Skills and Knowledges, to each of which you choose 13, 9 and 5 points. Abilities starts at 0, skills which have zero when rolling them gives diff+1, while Knowledges with 0 cannot be attempted. As with Attributes, skills can maximum have 5 points, and get one specialization when reaching 4, and one when reaching 5. Exceptions: Crafts gets one specialization per point.

Backgrounds:
You have 5 points to divide between the backgrounds. These starts at 0. Each background can maximum have 5 points, however, with the storytellers approval, more points can be applied. Exceptions: Generation may max have 4 points without storyteller approval.

Disciplines:
You have 3 points to divide your clan disciplines. These starts at 0. Unless you have gotten approval for more than four points in generation, the limit is 5 points in one discipline.

Virtues:
You have 7 points to divide between virtues. These starts at 1. Your Courage becomes your basis for your willpower, while your two other virtues (decided by your path), gives the basis for your path rating.

Freebie points:
On top of that, you have 15 freebie points. With these you can buy more points for your stat or you can buy merits. You can also gain more freebie points by buying derangements or flaws. You can't have more than 7 Merits and Flaws combined.

Costs to raise one step:
1 point: Humanity, Willpower and Background  
2 points: Abilities and Virtues (also raises Humanity or Willpower as per above)
5 points: Attributes
7 points: Disciplines (Clan disciplines, Celerity, Fortitude and Potence can be bought this way)
Merits cost differs depending on the Merit.

Points gained:
3 points: 1 Derangement
Flaws gives different amounts depending on the Flaw.

Storyteller approval:
While you are always welcome to contact the Storyteller to get help regarding the character creation, you need to let them know once it is done, and await approval, before posting.
